Indian Government asks Google,Yahoo,Facebook,Microsoft to Screen User Content Online..!!

The INDIAN Government has asked Internet companies like Google etc, and Social Networking companies like Facebook to prescreen user content which includes any single tweet, photo, video or even a blog post from INDIA and remove any disparaging, slanderous and abusive content before it goes online!!...

At the meeting, Mr. Sibal showed attendees a Facebook page that maligned the Congress Party’s president, Sonia Gandhi.  “This is unacceptable,” he told attendees, the executive said, and he asked them to find a way to monitor what is posted on their sites.

In the second meeting with the same executives in late November, Mr. Sibal told them that he expected them to use human beings to screen content, not technology, the executive said.

Some Indian cities like Mumbai have already set up special units to monitor Internet sites like Facebook and Orkut, the social networking site operated by Google, for content considered disparaging or obscene.

You live in India and usually carry a mobile phone(perhaps everyone does!), here is something that might help you to pick a best voice and text plans for your mobile phones depending upon your usage.

The service known as 3gsimplified is a mobile app  for android users and also a web app in case if you use any other phone or else if you want to select your plans from desktop.

You install the app and choose your region and also your existing cellular operator from the available options. The app will read the voice call logs from the phone and based on the local / national (STD) usage, it will recommend you a list of the most cost-effective plans from different operators in your regionwhich are available. With Mobile Number Portability(MNP) it has become very easy to switch between operators and we can configure this mobile app to show plans fro our existing operators or from operators of our choice..

Now coming to the web app which is a available at 3gsimplified.com where you need to manually fill your monthly Local ,STD call usage and also SMS usage and it's done. The algorithm will run in the background and will display the most suitable and cost-effective plan for you.

Usually we can find the serial number of the computer especially for desktop's at the back or even at more harder-to-reach location and for laptop's it is at  the base i.e. we need to turn the laptop upside down to see the serial number.

If you don't want to do all these gimmick's i.e all those physical stretches, there is a more simpler way.The below commands work for Windows-XP/7

1.Open the command prompt (Start –> CMD) and type the following command:

wmic bios get serialnumber

2.Another command that will print the model number of your computer :

5 Tech Innovations that could change the developing world...

In the present world where Globalization is the buzz word!!..,new technologies are helping to distribute resources for education, health and connectivity.Innovators are finding ways to make these technologies cheaper, affordable and accessible to the millions of people..

The following are the most happening technology breakthroughs which are making a wave in most of the developing countries!!..

1.Inexpensive Tablets

technoratti.co.nr
One week after Amazon released the Kindle Fire, the first tablet computer to present a serious threat to Apple‘s iPad, another historic tablet was released. On October 5, India launched the world’s cheapest tablet, Aakash, priced at just $35 for students with government subsidies or $60 in stores, which the government hopes will reduce the digital divide between rich and poor.

The tablet was developed by DataWind, a small British company, with researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology.

2. Inexpensive Laptops

One Laptop Per Child‘s XO and Intel’s Classmate PC share a common mission: Bringing children access to education through computer ownership. Both programs distribute rugged, affordable laptops to schoolchildren across the developing world.

Intel developed a suite of educational software to accompany the little blue laptop, which costs between $400 and $500 each to distribute. These programs enable teachers to communicate with their students through web-based applications. The computer features a swivel screen, essentially converting the laptop into a touch-tablet.

3. Inexpensive Mobile Phones

As mobile phone ownership rapidly spreads across the developing world, many have tried to create the world’s cheapest cellphone —
Today, Vodafone 150 can claim that title, selling a mobile phone for just under $15. It will sold unsubsidized to customers in developing markets in India, Turkey and Africa.

The Vodafone 150 and 250 handsets will retail for less than $15 and $20 respectively. While the phones are intentionally bare-boned on the feature side, they’re priced for people in potentially isolated and impoverished areas who may not otherwise be able to afford mobile devices.

The low-cost devices will support voice calls, SMS and mobile payments, with the 250 model including a color screen and FM radio.

4. Alternative Energy

SunSaluter, winner of the Startups for Good challenge, aims to bring solar panels to villages in the developing world that have never had access to electricity. While solar energy is a hot topic across the world, its expense has prevented deeper penetration. Eden Full, a mechanical engineering undergraduate at Princeton University, developed solar panels that optimize energy collection as they rotate to face the sun for as much time as possible each day. The system costs just $10 and uses 40% fewer panels than typical solar energy thanks to its rotations.

5. Improved Sanitation

technoratti.co.nr

According to water.org, one billion people don’t have access to clean water, and 2.5 billion people don’t have improved sanitation. So it should come as no surprise that improving sanitation is key to the progress of developing countries.

While cheap laptops and tablets are certainly exciting, some of the life improving technologies in the developing world don’t even require electricity. Last year, India’s Tata Chemicals released the Tata Swach(the Hindi word for clean), an affordable water filter (priced at around $21) that uses nanotechnology, requires no electricity and meets theU.S. Environmental Protection Agency‘s sanitation standards.

Want to increase your Wi-Fi signal strength.......Guess a Pepsi/Coke Can can do it!!

An Aluminium Can is all what you need to increase your WI-Fi signal. I guess it is the cheapest way available to do so!

You need to place the foil behind the antenna of the your wireless router and the foil will redirect the signals to your preferred location thus by increasing the overall signal strength.

Other than the aluminium foil, the  below video will show you how to make your own   Wi-Fi extender at home by using an empty coke can or soda can.

The can's body is a bit sturdy than the foil and can's lid acts a stand. Be careful while cutting the can with the knife and make sure that can's inner body is completely dry!.

Want to Know the Caller's location from your Phone!!.. ..

When you receive a call to your mobile phone it displays the caller's phone number.Imagine if we can also get some more additional information regarding the caller!!.

When we get a call from any land line number, it would be an advantage to know the location and place from where we have received the call depending on the STD code of that particular state.Coming to the mobile phones we can get the service provider's information from the first 4 digits of the mobile number as per the chart.

For example, if we get a call from a mobile number 9885xxxxxx it's a Vodafone number registered in Andhra Pradesh.

You can perform these database lookUp's manually,or if you have an Android phone you can download  Shaplus which is an android based application. This free application will display the caller's information i.e. regarding caller's position from where he is calling. It works for both incoming and outgoing calls too!!.

This even works for mobile numbers which have changed their operator service through Mobile Number Portability(MNP)Scheme.

How to Dry a Wet Cellphone!!!!!

What you would do if your cellphone is accidentally dropped in water? You might have jumped into the pool without taking your cellphone of your pants!!

Most of the electronic vendors who sell there gadgets may not cover the damage caused due to water. Then most of you would be dumping the gadgets, here a last option which you can give it a try before dumping most of the time it works!!

Disassemble the phone i.e. remove the back lid of the phone, remove the battery and the SIM if it is present. Now wipe the outer part of the phone with a towel so as it absorbs the water on the outer body.Next the important part is that we need a substance which can absorb the water content present inside the phone,so we need a substance like a desiccant

The following are the two approaches which can be followed :-

1.The natural desiccant available is "Uncooked rice" which will absorb the moisture from the phone, place the phone in a bowl of uncooked rice and cover it with a plastic cover. After 2-3 days if your are lucky enough your phone should start ringing again.

  2.  The other desiccant available is "SILICA GEL Crystals"which is Blue in color, place the phone in a zip locked silica gel pack, after 2-3 days you may observe that the silica gel had absorbed the moisture from the phone and it will turn into pink in color. We can reuse the silica gel crystals as they would turn back to blue on heating,so Silica gel crystals are a Reusable resource.

Protect your expensive Mobile phones and ipods from Water and Dust !

You can carry your cellphones and ipods safely to beaches, swimming pools and even to washrooms without fearing that they me get damaged.

This video will show how to protect the expensive Motorola phone from water in the bath tub.All you need is a condom!....the girl in this video wraps the phone in the condom tightly and starts using the phone i.e. receiving calls inside bath tub.

Disclaimer : Use the above mentioned phone condom at your own risk.

Facebook tracks what you do online even when you're logged out of facebook!!!

Canberra, Sept 26 (ANI): An Australian technologist has claimed that Facebook can track the web pages you visit, even when you are logged out of the social networking giant.
According to Wollongong-based Nik Cubrilovic, when the user is logged out of Facebook, rather than deleting its tracking cookies, the site merely modifies them, maintaining account information and other unique tokens that can be used to identify its users.
This simply means that any time you visit a web page with a Facebook button or widget, your browser is still sending personally identifiable information back to Facebook.
"Even if you are logged out, Facebook still knows and can track every page you visit," Cubrilovic wrote in a blog post.
"The only solution is to delete every Facebook cookie in your browser, or to use a separate browser for Facebook interactions," he added.
Cubrilovic said he tried to contact Facebook to inform it of his discovery but did not get a reply, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
He said there were significant risks to the privacy of users, particularly those using public terminals to access Facebook.
"Facebook are front-and-centre in the new privacy debate just as Microsoft were with security issues a decade ago," Cubrilovic said.
"The question is what it will take for Facebook to address privacy issues and to give their users the tools required to manage their privacy and to implement clear policies - not pages and pages of confusing legal documentation, and 'logout' not really meaning 'logout'," he added. (ANI)
